Lucent Purchases CadMOS' Noise Analysis Solution
SANTA CLARA, Calif.—Apr 10th, 2000—CadMOS Design Technology, Inc. today announced that Lucent Technologies has purchased PacifIC, CadMOS' static noise analyzer, to check the noise immunity of their advanced communications chips.
"To minimize our design cycle, it is imperative that our high performance DSP chips for wireless infrastructure be free from crosstalk problems," said Bill Griesbach, distinguished member of technical staff at Lucent Technologies Microelectronics Group. "At 0.18mm and below, we are seeing a significant increase in coupling noise in both auto-routed standard cell and hand-crafted custom designs. By using PacifIC, we are able to isolate problem nets and fix them well before tapeout. The insight gained from analyzing numerous designs in PacifIC has enabled us to refine our design flow to avoid noise problems before they happen."
"As designers migrate to 0.18m and below, noise immunity decreases while on-chip noise increases dramatically," said Charlie Huang, CEO of CadMOS. "As evidenced by PacifIC's usage at Lucent, even designs using standard ASIC flows deploying commercial libraries and commercial foundries are no longer immune from noise problems".
About PacifIC
PacifIC tm is an advanced static noise analyzer for high performance digital CMOS ICs. It exhaustively analyzes the impact of noise on the functionality of digital circuits by analyzing all major sources of noise acting together in the worst allowable way. Noise sources considered include cross coupling noise, charge sharing noise and supply noise.
